Netherlands Homework

 This week for homework we got the choice to do an assignment on a country competing on the Olympics. I choose The Netherlands.
The Netherlands is the tiny brown place next to the yellow Germany.

The Netherlands is in Europe.

this is the Netherlands flag. the colours are blue, white and red. White means peace and honesty , Red means hardiness , bravery ,
strength and valour. Blue vigilance, truth and loyalty , perseverance and justice.    

A coat of arms is a symbol used to represent a Family Surname or a country and many more things. This one represents the Netherlands.

There are so many animals native to the Netherlands such as Wild Deer , Rodents, Weasels and Wild Beer.

Another name for the Netherlands is Holland.

In the 2008 Beijing Olympics The Netherlands got 16 medals. 7 gold , 5 silver , 4 bronze.

So far at the summer Olympics the country has won 246 medals and 86 at the winter Olympics.

In the Netherlands approximately 4.5 of the 16 million people play some sort of club sport.

The Dutch build the windmills for corn milling, saw milling, and land drainage. Dutch windmills are quite primitive; they use canvas sails and were adjusted with a hand crank. Nowadays the windmills are used mainly for tourist attractions.

Before the Euro was instated Dutch money (known as the guilder) had its own style. It was very colourful and also almost all the pictures depicted on the notes were of things and not people. The only note to have a person on it was the 1000 guilder note.
